Lorelai Gilmore loves coffee, so do our outfits
When it comes to accessories, there is so much you can choose from. From rings to hairstyles, there are various ways to elevate an outfit. The power of accessories is undeniable because it can transform a simple outfit to a well-styled one. Accessories are especially vital to develop a personal style and I am a firm believer that even the smallest changes to your outfit can change up the vibe.
The latest accessory in the game is: coffee! As Lorelai Gilmore once said, every day is a coffee day. And while we get our caffeine fix, our little cup of coffee — believe it or not — has also become a part of our outfit.
Unlike other trends that come and go, coffee has always been a staple. Since the 18th century, carrying a cup has been a status symbol. Nowadays, we often come across coffee shops with unique to-go cups. Seeing these cups often encourages us to try various new places. Coffee is also a favorite on Instagram feeds as it is a perfect way to express a part of ourselves and show off our favorite spots.
Coffee is a signal of personal style and aesthetic. Walking with a cup of coffee is an integral part of street fashion and highlights coffee as a vital part of our day. On social media, you might come across the term “treat of a day" where people describe buying coffee as a reward. Carrying this treat not only fills us with happiness but also reflects on our outfits. On top of the coffee cup being an accessory, our order reveals a lot about us. There is a huge variety you can choose from: lattes, flat whites, americanos, cappuccinos, cortados, and the list goes on. The way you take your drink – hot or iced – also makes a significant difference. You can’t tell me someone who drinks black coffee versus an iced lavender oat milk latte is the same person. Personally, I am a black americano — I’ll admit, I have the black coffee drinker toxicity — and a vanilla latte person in one but I know people like to stay loyal to one side.
Where you get your coffee also speaks a lot about you. Coffee lovers urge supporting local coffee shops instead of big corporations like Starbucks because they do not value coffee quality. For example, the dialing-in espresso process is a delicate one. However, Starbucks chooses to use automatic espresso machines instead of honoring that process. On top of that, your local baristas probably know how to do latte art! So, remember that your caffeine source will determine a lot about your fashion sense.
Overall, coffee is my favorite accessory, and I am happy we are honoring our daily dose of caffeine in our outfits.
